I was a bit hesitant to read this as I had read very mixed reviews about it. Some loved, some hated, some said meh. HOWEVER, I usually tend to not agree with a lot of people when they don’t even know what I like, they can’t judge for me!
Ahem, anyways, I really enjoyed this. I didn’t think it was laugh out loud funny, but it was intelligent and well written. I liked it. I found her very quote-able. I liked what she had to say even if I didn’t agree with her and really isn’t that the best way to judge?
I also read at least two books this year that recommended her book (Yes Please! by Amy Poehler and Why not me? by Mindy Kaling) so I gave it a shot and wasn’t disappointed.
I haven’t watched 30 Rock beyond brief glimpses while friends had it on in the background at social events/gatherings, and I hadn’t watched much SNL beyond same random catches. Then again I hadn’t watched Parks And Recreation until after reading Amys book (Hubby and I just finished season 1. Very dry/intellectual humor in there that we both reacted by saying: “Damn This Is Great!”) and I still haven’t seen any of The Mindy Project after just finishing Mindy’s second book earlier this week.
I would recommend this one.
