My Review Policy: (as of June 1, 2017)
A Blog Reviewer Profile basically showcases the reading style, preferences, and requirements of the blogger on the types of books they will accept to review. The purpose is for publishing houses and authors to read before contacting the blogger for a book review.
I receive a lot of requests through my email. I mean, I get swamped with them. Most I decline because, not only do I tend to lean more toward choosing Netgalley eBooks and picking out items from my local library to review, but I receive requests in genres I don’t read. I only reply to pitches I choose to accept.
I read a LOT. Around 200 books a year.
There are many books in the world and only so much time to get to read. I am highly picky about what I dive into. My time is valuable.
I do read the emails and carefully consider if I want to put the time investment in. (Not only is there the reading, but also of course the typing and reviewing.)
Here is the information I feel you need to read before sending a review request to me:
I always, always, always write my reviews honestly. If I didn’t care for a book, or if it becomes a dreaded DNF (did not finish), I will at least expand on why. I will never simply say I didn’t like a book. That’s not me. I review with my thoughts on both what did and did not work (if applicable). I would never personally attack an author for their writing.
That being said, if I do have to classify a read as a DNF, that is my right as a reader to do so. I can only slog, slog, slog for so long before throwing in the proverbial towel. I review every single book I read on my Goodreads account. I do not, however, review every single book I read on my blog. I have several reasons for this, the biggest being that I don’t feel all books should be featured.
Please let me know in the original email if you have a set deadline. I will bump up reads and usually review extremely quickly, however; I tend to read several books concurrently. This can cause me to take longer to finish. If I do accept a review copy (ARC, ARE, or audio versions) then keep in mind the arrival time. Clearly an eBook will get to me faster than a physical copy mailed.
Simply stated: I will review at my own pace unless otherwise requested and agreed to.
There are exceptions, but as a general rule of thumb:
I am HIGHLY interested in:
- Women’s Fiction
- Contemporary/Adult Fiction
- Mysteries (Cozy)
- Nonfiction (Science, Philosophy, Buddhism)
- Magical Surrealism
Every once in awhile I will review:
- Middle grade
- Historical fiction
- Children’s Fiction
I am NOT at all interested in:
- Christian/Christian Fiction
- Romance (Raunchy)
- Paranoid Fiction
Please let me know if your book has multiple formats and if I can choose which medium to read it. Mostly I enjoy AREs, but sometimes I want the option to branch out to audio or a physical copy if available.
If I am sent an ARC I will never sell it. Once completed, I either pass along to a little library in my city or donate to charity.
If you would like me to publish my review elsewhere than on my blog and/or Goodreads, let me know and I will be happy to accommodate.
Please send any & all review requests to: email@example.com
