Most of my jewelry pieces were gifts given to me (or made by) my friends and family.
Several of my pieces are bookish and/or fandom pieces.
I do not own any earrings. I found that they were not a necessity for me and so I don’t wear them. If I have a special occasion where I really want to wear any I either borrow some from a friend, or I find a cheap pair that I then give to a friend during the event, or donate after.
Let’s get into it:
My elephant pendant I got along with a shirt I bought from “Ross Dress For Less” and was inspired by it. I felt it was an elegant piece and happily wear it quite often.
This Underwood typewriter pendant I purchased for myself from Amazon.com and wear it anytime I want to be inspired to write. I am actually wearing it now as I type this blog post.
One of my dear friends, Kayla, is a jewelry crafter and she knows I love all things Alice. She upcycled a few pieces and voila, we have a stunning and one-of-a-kind piece. She has some mad skills and if you want to check out her work, please click here.
Another piece by Kayla. She knows one of my favorite sayings is “Hakuna Matata” and that my favorite color is yellow. This piece she crafted for me a few years ago.
The last one from Kayla, this one she found while out scouting for pieces to upcycle and she said she couldn’t resist grabbing it for me. It glows in the dark. Ooohhh. Ahhhhh.
My hubby, Jake, got me this Black Hills gold heart pendant as a Christmas holiday gift in 2014. I love the minimalness to it and wear it anytime I want to feel a little bit snazzy.
This one-of-a-kind piece was special ordered/requested by my Mom when I had told her that A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas was the first book that I stayed up all night to read. She also had this locket piece customized with my favorite quote from this book: “Remember that you are a wolf. And you cannot be caged.” I often wear this one in conjunction with my elephant pendant as I feel they look nice together.
Onto my bracelets, I have these three that I wear all on the same wrist at the same time when I wear them. They were found at Michaels for $1 each and they say: “Imagine”, “Free Spirit”, and “Happy”.
My Mom gifted me with this bracelet which says “Keep calm and Read On”. I like and appreciate this one even though I cannot wear it due to having petite wrists.
This one-of-a-kind piece was made for me by my husband when we very first started dating as a Christmas holiday gift in 2009. It is the piece of jewelry I have had the longest and I will wear it on special occasions.
The last of my bracelets, these are of course from my love of comics, worn all at the same time when I wear them too. “Superman”, “Batman”, and “WonderWoman” symbols. There were also snagged from Michael’s for $1 each as well.
Finally saving the best for last, my wedding band and ring. I joyfully and blissfully wear this every single day. The inside of our bands we had inscribed with our names and lyrics from our song. The main ring itself features the past, present, and future setting/meaning. These are the only rings that I own and the only ones I feel I need.
And that is it. These are all the pieces of jewelry that I own.
Let me know in the comments below if you have a favorite piece of jewelry and/or ones that are super meaningful to you. If you are also a minimalist, does this seem like a lot or a little to you? This is the perfect amount for me as minimalism has never been about deprivation, but rather about curating what is important, useful, and meaningful in ones’ life.
As always remember that reading can brighten up any day and I will chat with you all in my next blog post! Have a great week!
