Sweetheart Seer Books

2020 Book Stats

For 2020 I set my goal originally for for 130 books. I hit that goal of 130 books and went quite beyond!

2020 book stats:

198 books read in total.

My shortest book was 1 page (Jude-a book of the bible of course) and my longest read was 984 pages (Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas).

I read 49,425 pages total. Which nearly doubled my page count from 2019.

Break down on Star Ratings:

This is going off of Goodreads and their sad lack of a half star option, so all of these that were half rated were pushed or pulled down depending. (Most were pulled up.)

1 star – 3
2 star -9
3 star -25
4 star -81
5 star -80

My average rating was 4.1 stars, which was my average rating last year too.

This tells me that for the most part, I am still pretty good at picking books to read that I think I will like/enjoy.

Publication dates breakdown:

Books read as ARCS: 30
Books read that were published in 2020: 45
Books from earlier than 2020: 123

Overall I think that is pretty decent. I read a fair amount of books that weren’t published yet along with ones from 2020. 26 of the 123 published earlier than 2020 were from the Bible. Taking those out would put my count at 97 books read that were published prior to 2020.

Genre breakdown

I changed some of the categories I was tracking this year, added some, combined some, and took some out. I feel like separating out some of the more broad genres gave me a better sense of what categories of reading I was doing this year in general. I definitely had more Contemporary/Romance this year and less Graphic Novel/Comic. I also read more Poetry and seperated out Fantasy into its own category.

YA: 35
Children/Middle Grade: 18
Mystery/Thriller: 12
Literary Fiction: 26
Contemporary/Romance: 15
Horror: 1
Poetry: 9
Graphic Novels/Comic: 9
Fantasy: 5
Humor: 6
Classic: 3
Historical Fiction: 3

New to me or reread breakdown:

I re-read exactly 11 books last year too!

Books that I reread: 11
Books that I read for the first time: 187

Format breakdown:
Which include bought, read in scribd, on kindle, or checked out from library. I highly read more Physical books this year than last year (which was only 6!) and less Audiobooks.

Audiobook: 66
Ebook: 74 (30 of which were eARCs)
Physical: 58 (1 of which was a print ARC)

Breakdown in pictures of all books read in 2020

This was a great reading year, however, I will be attempting to only read 50 books next year so I can branch out into learning some new skills!
