This book was everything! Anna K Away was one of my most anticipated reads of this year and being able to listen to this on audio when that is the way that I took in the first book was such an amazing experience.
Our favorites are all back and we get to see Anna deal with the fallout of everything from book one from the funeral of her true love (seriously so sad from book one, watching her pick up the pieces here was so heartbreaking), reading letters to her from him, and the sex tape fallout too.
Lollie gets cast in a play and has very strong chemistry with a new guy, Dean, who is one of the plays love interests and who she sort of has feelings for. Steven has some issues with this understandably.
Dustin and Kimmie were amazing once again and I still adore them.
Beatrice was a mess, but man did I ever like her love interest here. I don’t want to spoil things, but Tiara the coolest surfer/hotel worker/baby zoo animal handler ever. 😉
As for the narration of the audiobook, done once again by the incredibly talented Jenna Ushkowitz, pulled me in with such ease making for yet another delightful listening experience. It was easy for me to fall back into this world and I listened to the entire book over the course of one day/night. It was an inhale listen and I think that was made possible by both the incredible narration and writing.
Seriously, just read this one. It was amazing and I actually enjoyed it more than I did the first book which was a very tall order because I adored book one. Probably because I was already so deeply connected to the characters and was happy to get to spend time with them again.
How the mighty have fallen. Anna K, once the golden girl of Greenwich, CT, and New York City, has been brought low by a scandalous sex tape and the tragic death of her first love, Alexia Vronsky. At the beginning of the summer, her father takes her to the other side of the world, to connect with his family in South Korea and hide her away. Is Anna in exile? Or could this be her chance to figure out who she really is?
Back in the U.S., Lolly has forgiven Steven for cheating on her, and their relationship feels stronger than ever. But when Lolly meets a boy at her beloved theater camp, she has to ask herself how well Steven will ever really know her. Meanwhile, in Manhattan, everything between Kimmie and her new boyfriend, Dustin, is easy—except when it comes to finally having sex. And Bea escapes to LA, running away from her grief at her beloved cousin’s death, until a beautiful stranger steals her heart. Is Bea ready to finally forgive Anna, and let herself truly fall in love for the very first time?
Set over the course of one unforgettable summer, Jenny Lee’s Anna K Away is full of the risk, joy, heartbreak, and adventure that mark the three months between the end of one school year and the beginning of the next.
