National November Writing Month. NaNoWriMo. Ahhhh yessss…
This year I am going to start and finish writing a romance novel…in one month. 30 days. Yes you read that correctly.
Working title is highly subject to change.
I have been a member of NaNoWriMo for 5 years(!) but only actually participated the year I had first heard about it (a little late to the party at that!).
This year I have an idea in mind, I feel like I have researched the market enough to kind of see what is popular and resonating with people, and I think I am ready to churn out my first romance novel!
I had self-published a novel back in 2007 over the course of four months(!), but haven’t published since. I have a sort of timeline in mind for this one of writing the first draft (50,000 words) in November, revising in December, researching to find an agent/publisher in January, and then revising more from there until publication in 2022. Let’s see how this plays out!
Regardless, I cannot wait to dive in once November gets here and see where my characters take me. It has been *ages* since I had an idea for a novel and my creative mind is already forming the breadcrumbs of the story. I also have already started to come up with character connections and character profiles for my three main characters. Am I using the trope of a love triangle? Is there enemies to lovers? Second chance romance? You’ll have to wait to find out!
